Pastor's Note: The Warrior's Power
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:10-11 KJV.
If we examine verse 10, we see that we are to be strong in the power of the Lord, and in the power of His might. If we are going to win the battle, it is not going to be won in our own strength, it is going to be won in Him. In other words, we must be completely dependent upon God. We must also remember that it is not our battle, 1 Samuel 17:47 tells us; And all the assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with the sword and sprear: for the battle is the Lord's, and He will give it into your hands. A couple of points that I would like to make here. Firstly, If you are acquainted with the seven sons of Sceva found in Acts 19, they tried to batttle the evil spirit in the flesh. The outcome was not good. Let's take a look at verses 15 &16, And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so they fled out of that house naked and wounded. If we are going to win the battle, we are not going to win it in the flesh. It is very obvious when we see what that which happened to the sons of Sceva.
We are living in very trying times. There are many who are feeling fearful, defeated and discouraged, but the reason is because they are fighting this battle in the flesh. You are fighting battles that you were never called to fight. Instead of fearing, and fretting, how about resting in the Lord? The book of Hebrews is primarily about resting in the Lord.
Secondly, going back to 1 Samuel, we see that the Scriptures say, the Lord saveth not with the sword and spear, although we see that David possessed a sword and spear, but he wasn't trusting in himself, he was trusting in the Lord. He knew it was God's battle, and he was taking a stand for God. David knew he would never beat the giant in his own strength. Goliath towered over him in height and over powered him in strength. David didn't go out to battle in his own power, he rested in God's power. Look at the end of the verse, He will give it into your hands. Did you notice that? God will give it to you. God literally hands the victory to you. Now, this doesn't mean that we don't fight or engage in battle, after all we are soldiers of Christ, and what do soldiers do? They fight! In this fight God has us covered. If we were to read on a little further in 1 Samuel, God had given David the victory even before he went into battle. Like David we too can rest assured that God will fight our battles, we must learn to rest in Him... to be continued
God bless you.

Scripture Verse: For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; for it is the power of God unto
salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God
revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, the just shall live by faith. Romans 1:16-17

Famous Quotes: " “Fall to the work God sets thee about, and thou engagest his strength for thee. The way of the Lord is strength. Run from thy work, and thou engagest God’s strength against thee; he will send some storm or other after thee to bring home his runaway servant. How oft hath the coward been killed in a ditch, or under some hedge, when the valiant soldier stood his ground and kept his place got off with safety and honor?”
